According to a previous report, Microsoft will be hosting a press event scheduled in October, where it plans to lift the lid on its next flagships – the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL. However, if a new report is to be believed, the two will not be the Redmond firm’s new flagship. According to the new report, Microsoft’s new flagship will be the “Surface Mobile.”
“Surface Mobile” code name “Juggernaut Alpha”
Details about the “Microsoft Surface Mobile,” which is said to be known internally as the “Juggernaut Alpha,” have been leaked by WMPU.
According to the Windows Phone-centric site, the Surface Mobile will have a 5.5-inch AMOLED ClearBlack screen with a resolution of 1140 x 2560 pixels (aspect ratio of 16:9). It is said to be protected by Gorilla Glass 4. Under the hood is said to be an Intel Atom x3 (SoFIA) 64-bit processor. Its rear-facing camera is said to be a 21-megapixel PureView Zeiss 6-lens. Its front-facing camera is said to be an 8-megapixel Zeiss wide-angle lens. It is said to be available in 64 GB and 128 GB storage options. It will come with a microSD card slot (as much as 256 GB) for more storage options. A USB Type-C port will be on board, allowing users to never worry about plugging in the cable the wrong way. It is said to come with a “Surface Pen,” similar to that on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with its S Pen stylus. It is said to support wireless charging. It will run Windows 10 Mobile out of the box. It is said to be clad in an aluminium and magnesium unibody for that more premium look and feel.
There are said to be two versions of the Surface Mobile handset. The lower-end version is said to sport 3 GB of RAM, while the higher-end version of the device is said to come with 4 GB of RAM.
So when will Microsoft launch the Surface Mobile? According to WMPU, the device is likely to be released “either at the end of 2015 or early 2016.”
Of course, we can’t confirm if the Microsoft Surface Mobile exists or not, take this with a pinch of salt.
