The first smartphones to run Windows 10 out of the box are the high-end Microsoft Lumia 950, the high-end Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, and the entry-level Microsoft Lumia 550. The fourth smartphone expected to run Windows 10 is the Microsoft Lumia 650 (code named “Saana”). We’ve already seen renders that allegedly show the Lumia 650. Now, unofficial high-res renders have just surfaced.
The renders seen above were created by Windows Central and known concept artist @PhoneDesigner. The renders are based on “internal Microsoft slides”, being “highly reflective of the final product.” They also look a lot like previously leaked renders of the device. The difference is, these are more high-quality renders, giving us a better look at the unannounced Lumia 650.
To make official debut in early 2016?
Aside from partnering up with a known concept artist resulting in these stunning renders, the folks at Windows Central also claim that the fourth smartphone to run Windows 10 out of the box will make its official debut in early 2016, in either January or February. This suggests that the Lumia 650 could become official either at CES 2016, which kicks off in Las Vegas on the 6th of January and ends on the 9th of January, or at MWC 2016, which kicks off in Barcelona on the 22nd of February and ends on the 25th of February.
What we know so far:
According to previous reports, the Microsoft Lumia 650 will be an affordable smartphone that is ideal for businesses. It will reportedly focus more on companies that are looking for a smartphone to hand out to its employees. So does this mean that it will not be available to the public? Reports say that it will still be available commercially.
The Microsoft Lumia 650 will be the successor of the Lumia 640. As far as design goes, the device seems to feature a metal frame, which is a first for an affordable Lumia. Specs-wise, the device is expected to feature a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (HD). Under the hood is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 SoC, which is a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, coupled with 1 GB of RAM. Its camera combo is expected to consist of an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for snapping selfies and video chat. Other features include 8 GB of on board storage, a microSD card slot, and NFC. So far, we’ve learned that the device will be available in black and white colour options. Pricing is yet to be determined, but, with these specs, we’re more than certain that it won’t burn a hole through your pocket.
