Earlier, we came across reports of LG planning to discontinue its G Pro line of phablet. So does this mean that the South Korean-based firm is no longer interested in launching phablets? Apparently not, as it is looking to trademark “G Pen,” suggesting a new phablet is in the works, Phandroid reports.
The name “G Pen” suggests that LG is working on a new stylus for a device. Although the trademark application doesn’t mention what device will use the G Pen, we can’t think of any other device that might need a stylus but a phablet. With that in mind, we’re guessing that LG is planning to launch a device that will rival the Samsung Galaxy Note series. The latest phablet out of the Korean tech giant is the Galaxy Note 4.
Additionally, LG has filed a trademark application for “G Scrawl,” which sounds like software to be used alongside the G Pen stylus.
So is this definitive evidence pointing to LG planning to launch a new phablet with a stylus in the future? Unfortunately, this is all speculation for now, so don’t take our word for it.
