LG has secured the names of its coming flagships with the USPTO (US Patent & Trademark Office), which was spotted by Phandroid.
LG has trademarked the names LG G3, LG G4, LG G5, LG G6, LG G7, LG G8, and LG G9 names, which were granted to the South Korean firm last August. This means that we pretty much know what LG is planning to call its flagship smartphones until 2020. This also suggests that LG may change the way it calls its flagships 5 years from now, or it could just trademark the LG G10 onward in the years to come.
So what can we tell you about the the devices trademarked by LG? LG has already launched the LG G3 last year, and is rumoured to be planning to lift the lid on the LG G4 after MWC 2015 in March. It’s a dead cert that the smartphone will sport at least a Quad HD screen and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor. As for its successors, details about these devices are yet to be determined.
