Last week at CES 2016 in Las Vegas, LG lifted the lid on its new LG K series, consisting of the LG K7 and the LG K10. Although the two were officially unveiled at the trade show, the South Korean smartphone maker failed to mention pricing, until now. Well, pricing for the LG K10 at least.
LG K10 price and launch
LG (in Korean) announced that the LG K10 is now available in South Korea. It will set buyers back the equivalent of £115. The LG K10 should be available in other markets (including the UK) soon.
Both the LG K7 and the LG K10 feature what LG is calling a “”glossy pebble” design. The two feature smooth, slightly curved edges, and a back with a woven pattern “for optimal grip.” The LG K10 is a mid-sized device measuring 146 x 74.8 x 8.8 mm.
The LG K10 to be sold in South Korea features a 5.3-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (HD). Under the hood is a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor (chip-maker yet to be determined) that comes with support for 4G LTE connectivity, coupled with 1.5 GB of RAM. On board is 16 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot. In the photography department, the device features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for snapping selfies and video chat.To keep the lights on, the device features a 2,300 mAh battery. Based on these specs, the LG K10 is not a high-end device. Note that the LG K10’s specs varies depending on the market.
Since the LG K10 is new, you’d expect the device to run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box. Sadly, it doesn’t. It runs Android 5.1 (Lollipop). We’re hoping the device gets updated to the latest version of Android in the coming months.
A special “quick view” protective case made by LG is available for the LG K10 in South Korea. The new accessory features a transparent edge that allows owners to see notifications and answer calls without having to open the case. It will be sold separately, but pricing is yet to be announced.
