Rumours surrounding the yet to be announced LG G5 have only begun to surface. Although we haven’t come across a lot about the LG G5 compared to other flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S7, we’ve learned a great deal on what the device is expected to offer. Now a new leak has revealed the device’s model number.
Alleged LG G5 model number
The image above was leaked by Hungarian-speaking NapiDroid.hu. It shows HTTP User Agent data of a device with model number “LG-H830.” This is believed to be the model number of the LG G5.
Although LG is yet to officially unveil their next flagship, the alleged model number of the LG G5 does make sense. After all, the model number “LG-H830” is yet to be seen on any LG-made device. That plus the model number of the LG G4 is “LG-H810.”
Additionally, the User Agent data also reveals that the LG G5 will run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box. This isn’t surprising since the device is a flagship to be launched this 2016.
We’ve learned from previous leaks that the LG G5 is expected to be clad in metal, unlike the LG G4, which featured a leather back cover. Although clad in metal, the LG G5 will still feature a removable 2,800 mAh battery, thanks to a new drawer-like mechanism that slides out of the chassis. It is expected to feature a 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD) and a secondary screen (resolution of 160 x 1040 pixels) just like that on the LG V10. The secondary screen will show notifications such as battery status, the weather, and the time. It will also display shortcuts that give quick access to apps. Under the hood is expected to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC with an Adreno 530 GPU to handle graphics, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. It is said to feature 32 GB of internal storage. There are two types of cameras expected to found on the back of the LG G5 – one is a 16-megapixel sensor and the other will help snap 135-degree wide-angle photos. Laser auto focus, dual LED flash, and a fingerprint scanner is also expected to found on the back. As for the G5’s front-facing camera, the device is expected to feature an 8-megapixel sensor for snapping selfies and video chat.
LG will be hosting a press event on the 21st of February, a day before MWC 2016 kicks off in Barcelona, Spain. Past reports claim that the LG G5 will make its official debut at the press event. This is the same day the Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to make its official debut.
