The Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update has rolled out to the Google Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, while the Nexus 6 runs the latest version of Android out of the box. We’ve come across reports of Lollipop bugs such as the flashlight and random card bug. Now it seems another has been discovered. This new bug prevents users from sending SMS.
Owners of the Nexus 4, 5, and 6 have been complaining about the bug on the Android Issue Tracker.
Usually, units affected by the bug get an error code 38. The bug only seems to affect sending SMS, but there doesn’t seem to be any issues receiving messages.
Dutch-speaking Tweakers have contacted Google to report the problem. In a statement, Google said (translated), “We have discovered a software bug in Android 5.0 Lollipop which ensures that Vodafone customers can not send text messages International in the Netherlands. This bug affects the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, but the Nexus 6. We have therefore decided to introduce the Nexus 6 and Lollipop in the Netherlands until the problem is corrected.”
