Lately, we’ve been coming across a number of leaks concerning the LG Nexus 5 (2015), with recent reports claiming that the device will be called the “LG Nexus 5X” once unveiled. Although the smartphone isn’t expected to be officially announced until the end of the month, new leaked renders claims to show the smartphone’s final design.
The renders seen above were leaked by AndroidPit, which it claims shows “the final design” of Google’s new Nexus smartphone. The device is made by LG, and could be called the LG Nexus 5 (2015) or the LG Nexus 5X. The renders only show the back of the device, but look a lot like the devices we’ve seen in past leaked photos. On the back, we can see the familiar Nexus logo, the device’s rear-facing camera, laser autofocus, dual LED flash, and a circular fingerprint scanner. The rear-facing camera on board the Nexus 5X is said to be a 13-megapixel sensor.
The LG Nexus 5X is also said to sport a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). Under the hood is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor with four ARM Cortex-A53, two ARM Cortex-A57 cores, and an Adreno 418 GPU, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. It is expected to run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box. Colour options are said to include white, black, and light blue.
Aside from the LG Nexus 5X smartphone, Google is also said to be planning to lift the lid on another Nexus device. This is the Nexus 6 (2015) phablet made by Huawei. The Huawei Nexus 6 (2015) is said to sport a 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 and a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device just like the Nexus 5X. Under the hood is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor.
Word on the street is that there will be a third Nexus device, the Nexus 8 tablet.
So when do we get to see the search giant’s new Nexus devices? Google will be hosting an event on the 29th of September. We’re expecting the LG Nexus 5X smartphone and the Huawei Nexus 6 (2016) make their official debut at the event. Recent reports say that the Nexus 5X will be available on the same day it is unveiled via the Google Play store. We’re hoping this will be the same case with the Nexus 6 (2016).
The Nexus 5X is expected to start at $399 (around £260).
