Bluetooth SIG certifies Lollipop update for Google Nexus 7 – suggests update is on its way

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (1 & 2) has certified Android 5.0 (Lollipop) for the 2012 and 2013 Google Nexus 7. This suggests that the update will be rolling out to the tablet soon.

The filings listed on the Bluetooth SIG are for the ASUS K008 (2013 Google Nexus 7 model number) and the ASUS ME370T. The ME370T is not the model number of the 2012 Google Nexus 7, but the model number of the MeMO tablet, which was never released. The 2012 Nexus 7 is based on the MeMO tablet. Both list Android version LRW51C, an Android 5.0 (Lollipop) build.

With Bluetooth SIG certifying the update for the 2012 and 2013 Nexus 7, it is an indication that the update will soon roll out for the two tablets. Bluetooth SIG certification is one of the initial steps needed before an update rollout.

Unfortunately, we can’t confirm when the update will be rolling out to the two tablets, but according to previous reports, Lollipop will be rolling out to the Wi-Fi-only variant of the Nexus 7 on the 3rd of November.
