Samsung lifted the lid on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge back at MWC 2015 in Barcelona, Spain, and it seems consumers and the media can’t get enough of the two newly unveiled smartphones. But did you know that the Korean tech giant quietly lifted the lid on the new Galaxy Tab A? Luckily for us Russian-speaking hi-tech.mail.ru was at Samsung’s press event in Russia, revealing what the new tablet has in store for us.
The Galaxy Tab A will be offered in 8-inch and 9.7-inch versions. Both screen sizes will offer a 4:3 aspect ratio. The Galaxy Tab A lineup will be priced at around €300 (around £217) and will be available later this year. Colour options include blue and gold.
Specs include a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 4G LTE support, 16 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (as much as 128 GB), and a quad-core processor with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.2 GHz (probably a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410). The 8-inch version sports a 4,200 mAh battery that should last for 10 hours. The 9.7-inch variant has two loudspeakers (non-stereo). Both measure 7.5 mm thick. The Galaxy Tab A runs Android 5.0 (Lollipop) with the latest version of TouchWiz slapped on top.
Samsung is yet to announce when the Galaxy Tab A will be available in the UK.
