Price comparison website Phones LTD (http://www.phonesltd.co.uk) has today announced the results of its consumer survey to find the UK’s favourite smart phone so far in 2014.
Best Smart Phone 2014
Maybe surprisingly, the winner was not the recently launched HTC One M8 that has been winning multiple industry awards or even the hugely popular Samsung Galaxy S5 but an old favourite in the form of Apple’s most recent smart phone, the iPhone 5S.
However, the margins between votes were slim with the winner only just pipping Samsung’s flagship S5 to the post, the iPhone 5S gained 29.6% of the votes whilst the top-end Galaxy phone scored 29.3%.
The battle between these two behemoths changed almost daily as consumers voted throughout the month of June, the total number of votes in the survey was 1404 and there were some other surprises in store…
The third most voted device was the affordable Motorola MOTO G with 10.8% of the vote and only just behind in fourth place was the Sony Xperia Z2 with 10.7%, again both beating the much acclaimed HTC One M8 into fifth place with 10.5%!
Andrew Ramsey, managing director at PhonesLTD comments: “We were actually pleasantly surprised by the results, we were expecting the Samsung Galaxy S5 to wipe the floor with the competition due to the next iPhone 6 not making an appearance until September this year.”
“The results also reflect a real change in smart phone buying habits, especially when it comes to the popularity of more affordable smart phones like the MOTO G by Motorola, we believe that consumers are looking far closer at value for money rather than jumping on the ‘flagship bandwagon’ and this is certainly reflected in our own website statistics.”
