The BlackBerry Priv’s pre-registration page recently went live, which allows interested parties to register their interest in the upcoming high-end Android-powered slider. This allowed prospective buyers to get updates via email, letting them know when the smartphone would be available for pre-order. In the UK, you can now pre-order the device from Carphone Warehouse.
Pre-order page for BlackBerry Priv on Carphone Warehouse goes live
Carphone Warehouse is accepting pre-orders for the BlackBerry Priv, starting at £49 per month. The device will ship starting on the 6th of November.
The listing also confirms rumoured specs. BlackBerry has already confirmed that the Priv will rock a 5.4-inch dual-curved screen, but did not mention the device’s resolution. Carphone Warehouse confirms that the device’s screen will have a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). Other specs confirmed by the listing include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor (two cores clocked at 1.8 GHz, four cores clocked at 1.44 GHz, and an Adreno 418 GPU to handle graphics), coupled with 3 GB of RAM. It offers 32 GB of internal storage, but if this isn’t enough you can always make use of a microSD card (as much as 2 TB). There was a rumour that claimed that the Priv could rock a Sony IMX230 21-megapixel sensor. The listing, however, re-confirms previous rumours that say the device will sport an 18-megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS. Taking care of selfies and video chat is a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and not a 5-megapixel snapper. To keep the lights on, the listing reveals that the device will sport a 3,410 mAh battery that offers longer battery life. It runs Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) out of the box.
According to BlackBerry, the Priv is to be the most secure device available, since it was designed with privacy in mind hence the name. It comes with an early warning DTEK system that warns users when their privacy has been compromised.
The listing monthly prices on various tariffs, but the BlackBerry priv is expected to set buyers back around £390 for the SIM free version.
